SUMMARY:Call for Art: Drawing the Boundaries of Medicine
DESCRIPTION:The 9th Annual Medical Student Ethics Conference will feature an art show on the theme Drawing the Boundaries of Medicine. We would like to explore what it means to be healthy\, the scope of medical care\, social determinants of health\, and the role of medicine in human flourishing. The art show will be curated in collaboration with the Albany Medical College Humanities and Medicine student association. \nSUBMISSION DUE BY JANUARY 15\, 2025 \nEligibility\nTo submit an artwork\, the author must be enrolled in an accredited medical college. \nSubmission Requirements\nWe welcome submissions of paintings\, drawings\, photographs\, or other visual art. We will accept up to 5 images from each artist. All submissions should include two documents: a titlepage and the artwork submitted as a PDF\, JPEG\, PNG\, or GIF. \nThe title page should include:\n1) author name;\n2) artwork title;\n3) artwork medium\, size\, year;\n4) artist statement about artwork (100 words or less)\n5) author affiliation; and\n6) email address. \nThe artwork image file should be named after the submitting artist’s name.\nBoth files should be uploaded here. \nFor any questions about the AMSEC conference or the submission process\, send an email to bioethics@amc.edu \nComplete conference details available at: www.amc.edu/bioethics

DESCRIPTION:Private equity ownership of medical practices in the last decade has increased more than sixfold and takeovers are often associated with worse patient outcomes\, including mortality\, and increased prices. Current regulatory options appear insufficient to address these concerns.
