Obvious Child Director: ‘Please Stop Calling My Film an ‘Abortion Comedy’ – It’s Really about Choice’
August 20, 2014
(The Telegraph) – Obvious Child is being described as an ‘abortion comedy’. It tells the story of 20-something Donna, who works in a bookshop and does stand-up comedy in her spare time. When she falls pregnant after a one-night stand (post getting dumped), she has an abortion. There’s no Juno-esque last-minute change of mind with an ensuing adoption. Nor a Knocked Up scenario where the drunk couple decide to raise the baby together. Instead, Donna gets, “an abortion, please”.
