Stem-cell research vs. the tooth fairy

March 8, 2011

One of the latest advances in stem-cell research might have trumped the tooth fairy. Last year, before oral surgeon Dr. Greg Kewitt extracted the wisdom teeth of a teenage patient, the boy’s father asked him if he could save the boy’s teeth after he pulled them. He told Kewitt he’d learned that teeth contained stem cells that might someday be used to treat his son, should he become ill. (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review)
