Addressing Clinician-AI Divergence: From Resolving Conflict to Building Teams

When a clinician and an AI system disagree, who should prevail? The literature treats it as a conflict to be resolved, but none tells clinicians how to proceed. This lecture argues for a different question: not who wins, but how clinicians and AI should work together. Drawing on team science, it proposes a clinician-AI team model that not only addresses disagreement but also may catch errors when clinician and AI agree but are both wrong, reduce liability exposure, and guard against deskilling.
