Professionalism: Creating a Shared Framework Across Cultures, Education, and Practice
The Academy for Professionalism in Health Care (APHC) is an inclusive community of professionals dedicated to advancing professionalism in health-related fields (www.academy-professionalism.org). Our upcoming virtual conference on December 2nd & 3rd will focus on “Professionalism: Creating a Shared Framework Across Cultures, Education, and Practice.” Contribute to the framework by sharing an image that calls to mind a concept, personal experience, or insight that captures your perspective on what professionalism in the health care setting means to you.
APHC invites you to submit an image (e.g., photo, artwork, illustration, cartoon) and a short narrative that embodies your perspective on the vision, values, and challenges that we face when attempting to teach, assess, model, and live life as professionals in the healthcare setting.
For example, your image might reflect one of the critical themes to be discussed during the conference including:
- How Generational and Cultural Differences affect our Understanding of Professionalism
- How Professionalism Definitions differ among the healthcare professions
- Teaching and Modeling Professionalism
- How do Diverse Patient Populations affect our Approach to Professionalism
- How do Professional Values align with Personal Values
- Professionalism in Action – Moments of Clarity

Submissions are due by Friday, November 13.
Submission Guidelines:
- Create an email titled “APHC Images of Professionalism”.
- Attach your image along with a title and a short narrative text describing the concept or experience embodied in your image and how it contributes to the Professionalism Framework.
- Include your affiliation or location and contact email in the text.
- Describe the source of the image or how the image was created. If AI was used in the creation, please describe the tools and prompts used.
- Send your submission to Gerald Stapleton (Project Lead) at gstapltn@gmail.com.
Submissions will be reviewed by Conference Committee members for relevance and creativity. Selected images along with your narrative will be exhibited on the APHC website, and during conference breaks. Conference participation is encouraged but not required to submit an entry.
By submitting your image, you acknowledge that APHC has the right to share the image and the accompanying narrative on the APHC website, in the organization’s newsletter, and during conference breaks. It is imperative that no copyrighted material be submitted for inclusion without the express permission of the copyright holder, and that no recognizable individuals be included in your image unless accompanied by a signed waiver.
