Australia: Defiant vote for cloning in NSW

Cardinal George Pell was delivered a stunning rebuff yesterday when the NSW lower house voted by an overwhelming majority to support stem cell laws that permit therapeutic cloning.

A large number of prominent Catholic MPs, including the Premier Morris Iemma and his deputy John Watkins, defied the cardinal’s directive to vote against the bill. (The Age)
