Top Doctor Issues Warnings Over Older Mothers Who ‘Are a Huge Burden on the NHS’

(Evening Standard) – Three women aged 55 or older were revealed to be simultaneously receiving inpatient maternity care at St Thomas’ Hospital in Lambeth after travelling abroad for IVF. Thousands of British women go to foreign clinics each year as they are too old for free fertility treatment on the NHS. Paid-for fertility treatment abroad tends to be cheaper and easier to access for older women than in private UK clinics.
