International Bioethics session opens Monday in UNESCO

The 13th session of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organizations (UNESCO) International Bioethics Committee (IBC) will kick-off here [Paris] on November 20 to discuss a number of ongoing issues, including those of consent, social responsibility and health. UNESCO said in a statement ahead of the meeting that the two-day session will focus on these topics, in addition to presenting the activities held or being planned “in the framework of the promotion and dissemination of the Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights, adopted by UNESCOs General Conference in 2005.” The statement noted that UNESCO Director-General Koichiro Matsuura will be participating in Mondays gathering.
