‘Don’t Limit Organ Donation to Brain Dead’

(Times of India) – It is estimated that the process of organ retrieval in 2014 could not be completed at least 50 times even after the families consented to donation, as organ donation after DCD [organ donation after cardiac or circulatory death] is not allowed here. On the other hand, several countries have been doing it for the last two decades. To make DCD a reality in India, doctors from Spain, the UK, Australia and India came together in India’s first DCD Summit, on Saturday, at Fortis Gurgaon and discussed ways to take it forward.
