December 30, 2019
(USA Today) – For the first time in more than 50 years, more people in the U.S. are dying at home than in hospitals – a shift that care providers in Ohio say they saw coming. As of 2017, 29.8% of natural deaths occurred in hospitals, while 30.7% happened in homes, according to a study published this month in The New England Journal of Medicine. The journal found that 20.8% of people died in nursing homes.
