The Tenth Anniversary of the Journal of Health Care Law & Policy will be highlighting the diversity in health care law practice and the evolution of the field over the past decade. The Journal is currently soliciting manuscripts for issue two of Volume 10, which will be published in 2007. Students from the University of Maryland School of Law, an institution nationally recognized for its health care law program, are responsible for publishing the Journal.
Since its first volume, the Journal has published articles on topic as diverse as:
- Clinical research using decisionally impaired human subjects
- Privacy concerns arising from expanded genetic testing and information
- Palliative treatment and end-of-life care issues
- The implications on the judicial system of substance abuse by minors
- Genetic discrimination and HIV-status discrimination
- Tobacco and firearms as critical components of public health policy
- Proposals related to the education of special needs children
- Racial and ethnic disparities in health status and access to health care
- Proposals for medical malpractice reform and patient compensation
- Bioterrorism public health response and developing countermeasures
- Patients’ informed consent in research and medical education
- Policy proposals related to bovine spongiform encephalopathy (“mad cow diseaseâ€) and other emerging infectious diseases
- Legislative proposals to address steroid abuse in American sports
