Another Expansion of DNA Databases: South Korea Collects DNA from Labor Unionists

Under a South Korean law that went into effect last July, South Korean prosecutors have issued a controversial summons to collect DNA samples from six labor unionists found guilty of violence during strikes. The law established a national DNA database, which allows DNA samples to be taken from “those accused or convicted of 11 violent crimes, including robbery, arson, drug trafficking, rape, and sexual assault against minors.† (BioPolitical Times)
