In a World of Synthetic Biology, Publishing Virus DNA Sequences May Mean Perishing

(STAT News) – There are almost no such rules when it comes to publishing the fundamental blueprints needed to make or alter a virus with the tools of synthetic biology. There are already thousands of people who could use readily available reverse genetics protocols, a genome sequence, and synthetic DNA to produce an infectious virus.
