Call for Abstracts: The First Meeting for the Eastern Mediterranean and Arab Forum on Bioethics in Research

The suggested topic for this forum is: “Challenges to Ethical Considerations in Research in the East Mediterranean and Arab Region: Research Subjects, Researchers and Research Ethics Committees Perspectives”. Presentations will address one of the topics listed in the following:
1. Informed consent: Researchers’ perspectives, challenges in the field, REC review challenges.
2. Awareness of ethical considerations in research: what do people know about research, and what is their willingness to participate in research.
3. Knowledge of research ethics among researchers: how much do researchers know about ethics of research.
4. Training of research ethics committee members: how and what are the needs.
5. Ethics codes and guidelines in the Region: evaluate the importance of national guidelines.
6. Ethics codes and guidelines in the Region: ability of international guidelines to work at the national level in the Region.
7. Developing national/regional codes of ethics of research: methods and challenges.
Deadline 31 May 2008
