A Call For Fine Writing

The Left Atrium, the medical humanities section of the CMAJ, is seeking finely crafted, accessible submissions that are relevant to the experience of being a physician, including:

Narratives

  • Narrative medicine articles (with pertinent patient consent), poetry, short fiction, creative non-fiction (700-1000 words; 75 lines for poetry)

Reviews

  • Art and architecture, dance and theatre, books and electronic media (700 words)

Essays

  • Primarily medical history and philosophy, but open to all relevant subject areas (1400 words; max 10 references)
