Consortium on Law and Values, Health, Environment & the Life Sciences
10th Anniversary Conference
“What’s Next in Law, Health & the Life Sciences?  Debating Openness, Access & Accountability”
University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN

This competitive Call For Papers seeks top manuscripts on the legal, ethical, and policy implications of the biomedical or life sciences.  The lead author of the 3-4 papers selected will be invited to present the paper at the 10th Anniversary conference of the Consortium on Law and Values in Health, Environment & the Life Sciences (www.lifesci.consortium.umn.edu).

Articles will then be considered for publication in the Minnesota Journal of Law, Science & Technology (www.mjlst.umn.edu).

Travel expenses up to $2,000 will be reimbursed.  This conference will bring together leading scholars on genomic, neuroscience, and environmental research, and on science oversight.

For the full conference agenda, see www.lifesci.consortium.umn.edu/conferences/2009_whatsnext.php. Participation in the conference represents an exceptional opportunity for authors to workshop papers in development and to elicit interdisciplinary feedback from the top thinkers in the field.

Topics: Papers are invited on any topic relating to the legal, ethical, and policy dimensions of the biomedical and life sciences.  Topics many include, for example, issues of oversight and regulation, human subjects research, health law and ethics, intellectual property, or environmental law and policy.  The conference is highlighting issues of openness, access, and accountability, though papers may focus on other topics.  We welcome analytic, theoretical, doctrinal, and empirical work.  We invite submissions from any discipline, not just law or bioethics.  Co-authored work is welcome, though only the lead author will be invited to present at the conference.

Eligibility: Faculty and Post-doctoral Fellows with any terminal degree (e.g. JD, MD, PhD).
