Goal
The conference is designed to educate faculty and mid-level providers about the potential ethical impacts upon health care within the diverse populations in the evolving milieu of our multi-cultural societies in the United States and the world.

Educational Objectives
After attending this conference the participant should be able to

  • outline changing demographics in the United States with projected future population compositions and discuss similarities and differences in ways culturally diverse populations experience our health care system;
  • identify culturally sensitive approaches to health care;
  • describe potential applications of Integrative Medicine in diverse patient populations; and
  • outline cultural aspects and ethical implications of the end-of-life experience.

The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians and the Texas Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation

On-site registration opens at 4:00 pm, Friday, January 16, 2009 in the Hickey Auditorium Foyer.  The opening session will begin at 5:30 pm with a reception immediately following.  The conference will adjourn at 4:30 pm on Saturday, January 17, 2009.
