Exploring genetics of professional athletes

With the major-league baseball season in full swing, the analysis of team and player statistics has begun. More than in other professional sports, statistics play a central role in even the casual fan’s enjoyment of the game. Although fans already are awash with statistics, we might yet see even more data for each player on the sports pages as genes become a commonplace descriptor of athletic prowess.
