US bioethics commission hears expert testimonies

Experts have urged the US Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues not only to help foster uniform domestic and international protections for human trial participants but also to ensure that they are implemented in a measurable way. Although there is broad consensus on what should be included in ethical guidelines, “the challenge is figuring out how we’re going to interpret and apply them in countries on a daily basis”, Eric Meslin, director of the Indiana University Center for Bioethics, Indianapolis, IN, USA, told commissioners.
