The Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy at Baylor College of Medicine is hiring a program manager for our bioethics education programs. This could be a good opportunity for an MBE graduate who has an interest and experience in education and/or project management.

SUMMARY

The Center for Medical Ethics & Health Policy at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Program Management Associate to provide administrative, programmatic, and strategic oversight of the Center’s education programs, including undergraduate and graduate medical education, as well as continuing medical education and other College-affiliated programs. This position is eligible for hybrid work.

JOB DUTIES

  • Plans, implements, and oversees the Center’s education mission area, including educational programs for medical and health professions students, residents, undergraduate interns, and health professionals.
  • Manages collection, maintenance, and analysis of relevant educational data and documentation.
  • Develops and maintains curriculum maps across education programs.
  • Assists faculty with implementing best practices in medical education and active learning.
  • Supervises program management support staff.
  • Creates workstreams and process improvements for content updates and dissemination plans.
  • Prepares reports for departments and educational leadership.
  • Drafts, reviews, and updates operations policies and procedures; recommend improvements.
  • Assists with budget development, monitoring and faculty FTE allocation.
  • Provides support to other faculty leadership for new and ongoing projects.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field (e.g. bioethics).
  • At least two years of relevant education or program management work experience in a professional, academic, or higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated experience or interest in bioethics and/or health policy.
  • Candidates must be highly organized with the ability to work autonomously to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to display a professional, positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of flexibility in accepting work assignments with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks, understand processes, and resolve issues.

The Center for Medical Ethics & Health Policy conducts cutting-edge multidisciplinary research on perennial and emerging ethical issues arising in clinical practice and in biomedical research in a changing healthcare environment. Our research informs our teaching, clinical practice, and contributions to the development of health and science policy at the local, national, and international levels.

The Center is comprised of 16 primary faculty members, 39 affiliated faculty, 31 scholars, and over 35 fellows and staff, housed on the main Baylor campus in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas.

Our Center’s faculty teach in the undergraduate and graduate medical education curricula, direct an award-winning ethics pathway and a health policy pathway for advanced medical students, and have developed a comprehensive College-wide graduate medical education curriculum in ethics, professionalism, and health policy. Center faculty are actively engaged in funded research supported by the NIH, PCORI, and private foundations. Center faculty currently have over 20 externally funded grants and contracts totaling over $4 million in funding. Our faculty lead the clinical ethics consultation services at two hospitals in the Texas Medical Center with over 600 consultations per year. Since 1982, Center faculty have published over 200 books, chapters in scholarly books, and chapters in medical textbooks. In addition, Center faculty have published more than 2,000 papers in leading, peer-reviewed scientific, medical, bioethical, and medical humanities journals.
