Only One Third of Dying People Who Wish to Die at Home Actually Do, Survey Finds

(Nursing Standard) – The RCN has called for better provision of care for dying people who wish to spend their last days at home. The National Survey of Bereaved People, published last week by the Office for National Statistics, revealed that only one third of people who express a preference to die at home actually do. A quality marker for end of life care is that an individual should be able to die in their place of choice, but these latest statistics demonstrate that this often does not happen.
