Dr. Fred Roisen at the University of Louisville has injected adult (non-embryonic) stem cells from a human nose into rats with spinal cord injuries. A video on the Courier-Journal website demonstrates the difference the treatment made by showing two rats with the same spinal cord injury—one treated with the stem cells, one not—attempting to cross a rope. The untreated rat struggles and falls off. The rat treated with stem cells scurries right across. Note: no embryos were harmed
