Protecting patients in ongoing clinical trials
December 8, 2009
In the fall of 2008, retiree John Dennis sued Anapharm, one of Canada’s largest clinical research firms, alleging he’d been injured after participating in a clinical trial three years earlier. Dennis, of Drummondville, Quebec, ingested a trial drug as part of a study in the fall of 2005 and was rushed from the testing facility to the emergency room at McGill University Health Centre in Montréal, Quebec. He demanded $95 000. His case has since been settled out of court. (CMAJ)
