U.S. Appeals Court Upholds Legality of Stem Cell Research

A 3-year battle over the legality of stem cell research in the United States may finally be essentially over. This morning, a federal appeals court upheld a lower court’s July 2011 ruling that dismissed a lawsuit claiming that National Institutes of Health funding for research on human embryonic stem cells violates a law banning federal funds for research that harms or destroys human embryos.
