Doctors given duty to report female genital mutilation

Treat female genital mutilation as child abuse and act accordingly. That’s the message of a report launched in the UK this week calling for a concerted effort by school nurses, doctors and other health workers to help eradicate a procedure that has been illegal in the country since 1985, but which has never resulted in a prosecution.
