Scientists Develop Embryonic Tissue Chip
July 1, 2019
(Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News) – Anytime embryonic cells or tissue come up in science, debate and ethical discussions are sure to follow. Yet, having appropriate in vitro models would not only make studying the diverse aspects of human biology more accurate, but it could also alleviate many ethical concerns. But despite some advancements with adult tissues, when it comes to modeling the early developmental processes of the human embryo, things become complicated. However now, scientists at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne’s (EPFL) Institute of Bioengineering have simulated aspects of embryo formation in vitro starting from embryonic stem cells.
