In their introduction, the editors of these 73 chapters state their primary ambition to create a text that can be used to train researchers in developed as well as developing nations—a text that allows the foremost experts in clinical research ethics to reflect critically on what has been a scandal-driven and hence somewhat haphazard development of standards.
