Firm to seek 1st approval for stem cell-based medicine

A Hyogo Prefecture-based pharmaceutical company will submit an application for government approval of cultured cells as medicine by the end of this year, making it the nation’s first firm to do so, it has been learned. The use of cultured cells for medical treatment is aimed at reducing the side effects of bone marrow transplants. (The Yomiuri Shimbun)
