Op-Ed: Thailand: Human dignity in charter context _ and beyond
May 16, 2007
The concept of human dignity was integrated prominently into the 1997 constitution of Thailand. It provided the basis for elaborating upon a wide range of human rights; indeed, it was used as a synonym for human rights. It now appears in the interim constitution and is likely to be a pivotal provision of the next constitution. Yet, there has been little reflection on the content of the notion itself. Is it truly synonymous with human rights or is it something more? (Bangkok Post)
