Germline Genetics in Cancer: From Screening to Treatment

(Medscape) – From screening and risk stratification to selecting treatments, germline genetics have revolutionized the way oncologists treat cancer. During a special symposium on September 27 at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2014 meeting in Madrid, a group of experts in cancer genetics discussed the ever-broadening effect that inherited genetic mutations are having in the field, including using single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and germline genetic profiles of patients in the clinic.
