Drug-Device Combination Opens Potential New Path to Treat Stroke
October 29, 2015
(Nanotechnology Now) – In a new study that will appear in the December 2015 issue of Stroke journal, the team co-led by Wyss Institute Founding Director Donald Ingber, M.D., Ph.D., and U. Mass Medical Professor of Radiology Ajay Wakhloo, M.D., Ph.D., FAHA, describe their novel method to quickly dissolve away clots that completely obstruct blood vessels in the brain. Their approach combines an injectable clot-busting nanotherapeutic that targets blockages with an intra-arterial device that restores blood flow to obstructed vessels.
